Saturday:
Woke up in Innisfil, just south of Barrie. Barrie (like it's South Walian namesake) is on the water. Here the similarity ends. Whilst Barry is a place of ice cream, Gavin and Stacey and slot machines, Barrie is the place you want to retire to. This weekend they had an event called Kampenfest 'Making Barrie better'. We decided to go along.
Parked a way out of town and walked in through a little park. Never seen a sign like this before.
She's pretty as a daisy But look out man she's crazy. |
Found out a little about why Barrie is full of tulips. Many grateful Dutch sent them after WWII.
Learnt about 'Peggy' the Nazi killing machine.
Ate a maple syrup lolly. In fact the event was really good. There were hundreds of stalls offering free food and drink tasters. Lots of stalls selling handmade goods and many friendly Canadians.
We bought a pineapple drink. It was a good day.
